GRADUATE POSITION

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

The goal of the Graduate Program is to develop talented individuals into Gelderman's future leaders. Students are hired after graduation to work in a full-time, paid capacity. You will be placed on a vigorous learning development plan to afford you with a solid understanding of our company at all levels. Throughout this program you will be working with a variety of Gelderman’s leaders who will contribute to your career development. You will be challenged through approximately three job rotations in various roles across the organization. All New Grad rotations and Learning Plans will be supported and monitored by the Director of HR.

Our 30 week paid graduate position will provide a wealth of benefits, many of which cannot be found in the classroom.  Graduates will gain experience and explore all areas of Landscaping and Horticulture before committing to one field.  Graduates will gain a competitive edge, develop their leadership and management skills.  After successfully completing the rotational program, successful participants will be placed into their “destination” career path based on business need, personal career goals and individual skills and knowledge demonstrated throughout the program.  As a result, the successful candidates are well underway with their career growth and a promising future at Gelderman Landscape Services
 

STRUCTURED GRADUATE POSITION - 30 WEEKS

Phase 1.         8 weeks working in the field, 1 week (job shadowing/office placement (May – August)

First 8 weeks you will work in the field, then complete 1 week of job shadowing to gain understanding of management, operations, sales, & administration, then complete a 2nd 8 week period of working in the field

Phase 2.         8 weeks placement in the field (September – October)

Five days per week in the field focused in either Landscape Construction or Landscape Maintenance

Phase 3.         1 week job shadowing + 4 weeks working in the field (November)

Job Shadowing/office placement for 1 week, then complete 4 weeks working in the field

Phase 4.         Project & Presentation - 2 weeks (December)

Graduate project: A two week project to be completed by the graduate in which the graduate will summarize their previous 28 weeks of working, provide recommendations on how to improve the business.  The graduate will present this information to the senior leadership team.

Qualifications & Eligibility Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a career in landscaping/horticulture
  • Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered
  • Interested candidates must submit a reference letter from one of their professors
  • Academic (College) minimum Grade of 80% or greater
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Must have a strong work ethic
