The Human Resources Manager will provide guidance, support and coordination of all human resources functions & safety functions within the organization.  This pivotal role will be responsible for talent acquisition, compliance, occupational health & safety, organizational development, training and performance management activities along with management of compensation and benefits programs.   The Human Resources Manager acts as the ambassador and advocate for the company’s staff while balancing organizational needs.  The effort of this role will have a significant effect upon the profitability of the company, its operational effectiveness, and the success of the individual project both financially and in terms of employee well-being.

The Human Resources Manager reports directly to the President of Gelderman Landscape Services.  Communication between all members of the company team with respect to the roles each member plays is essential for the success of the company as a whole. 


Job Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

TALENT ACQUISITION, MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT:

  • Development & execution of the talent acquisition strategy, maintaining talent pools, interpreting recruitment testing results, scheduling and conducting interviews along with counselling managers on candidate selection
  • Maintaining talent pools, developing onboarding processes and conducting exit interviews when necessary
  • Participate in the enhancement and delivery of skills training and development programs.
  • Execute Talent Management processes including the annual review process, quarterly succession plans, annual employee surveys, and other talent management initiatives
  • Coach Managers to handle and develop employees' potential and to coach employees to maximize performance and production
  • Ensure career paths and career programs continue to promote the internal movement and promotion of high potential employees

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Oversee weekly payroll administration
  • Oversee & administer the company’s benefit plan, making suggestions for improvement and cost savings
  • Development and administration of the compensation budget as it relates to all divisions
  • Ensuring legislative compliance with employment standards and CRA regulations
  • Practicing continuous improvement in reviewing human resource processes and daily activities along with reporting of key KPIs relative to the position

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Development and execution of a positive employee relations strategy including programs and initiatives that create a collaborative culture for all members of the team
  • Oversee & administer the design, development and implementation of total rewards strategy and recognition programs for all team members
  • Evaluate company culture and provide recommendations on changes to accomplish company goals and objectives
  • Providing technical guidance on complying with employment standards and human rights legislation
  • Development and maintenance of Human Resources polices and Employee Handbook

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and all applicable regulations
  • Ensures that all workplace inspections are completed & documented
  • Conduct accident/investigations as necessary
  • Provide relevant guidance and recommendations to the Senior Leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or completion of CHRP/CHRL
  • 7+ years’ experience in a HR leadership/management role
  • 5+ years’ experience in Benefits Administration and payroll administration
  • 5+ years’ experience in working with multiple locations
  • Ability to develop budgets, understand and interpret financials with a general business acumen
  • Strong understanding of provincial, local labour laws and hiring practices in Canada
  • Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working with all levels of employees from field labour to senior management
  • Ability to delegate appropriately to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrates flexibility to perform duties wherever volume deems it necessary
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software & experience using an HRIS
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Willing and able to obtain related training, licenses and /or certifications as may be required
